Capital Entrepreneurs is a Campus Linked Accelerator (CLA) program of the Ontario Centres of Excellence. The CLA program provides funding to post-secondary institutions to create, improve and sustain a culture of entrepreneurship among students and youth while integrating these entrepreneurial activities with investors, industry and other stakeholders in the region.

CLA investments help Ontario accelerate the commercialization of ideas and inventions out of its world-class research institutions, and develop the business leaders of tomorrow by:

  •  Aligning the best practices and reducing barriers for student and youth entrepreneurs.
  •  Promoting integration with regional business and investment networks and resources.
  •  Embedding new prototype capacity across the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE).
  •  Helping student entrepreneurs transfer knowledge and intellectual property from Ontario’s post-secondary                institutions into the economy.
  •  Creating more student and youth entrepreneur-led start-ups in sectors such as ICT, digital media, life sciences, and clean technologies.
  •  Providing training, peer network learning and mentorship to promising youth entrepreneurs.

The University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and Algonquin College join Invest Ottawa in this initiative and have put in place a number of programs across their campuses in the region with a goal of making the National Capital Region the best place in Canada to start and grow a business.
